About me

I am a PhD student at Computing Research Center (CIC), National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Mexico City. I received an MSc in Computer Science from Bahir Dar University and B.Sc. in Information Technology from Wollo University, Kombolcha Institute of Technology, Ethiopia. I work on advancing language models for emotional intelligence, low-resource language understanding, cultural and linguistic representation, and speech recognition. More recently, I have begun exploring alignment and safety evaluations of large language models(LLMs) and broader modalities with VLMs. I am an active member of the Masakhane and EthioNLP NLP community.
